Comparing Apples to Apples

Everyone has to have atleast one family tradition and ours is going to the Oak Glen Apple Orchards in Yucaipa. We have a blast and of course the kids do as well. We go up during apple picking season and also we try to go up in early October to pick our own pumpkins. We get to pick all different kinds of apples and they even let you sample what's out there on the trees so you know what you like best. There is Red Delicious, Gala, Golden Delicious, Spartans, Granny Smith, McIntosh and lots more...there is a petting zoo for the kids and lots of yummy restraunts and an awesome bakery. In October they also have hay rides for the kids. It is mucho fun!
So when picking our apples we literally are comparing apples to apples.

This is the first place we go to (tradition) we get our Apple Butter, Apple Cider, Apple Pumpkin Butter or whatever else looks so yummy that we have to buy it.

My mom and stepdad came and met us up there.

Kaden and Grandma picking apples

Addison picking apples, she had so much fun!

We also had the experience of picking our own rasberries and for me this was the most fun, especially eating them right off the vine. The kids were in love with the rasberries they couldn't get enough. So by the end of this adventure I was in much need of stain remover. They would eat them and of course wipe their hands all over their clothes. I will be in the laundry room if anyone needs me.:)

And the last event that actually happened on the way up to the Apple Orchards was Savannahs 2nd tooth fell out. Well she actually pulled it out. It came out exactly 1 week after her first tooth fell out. I am glad this time she didn't swallow it and we have her tooth to keep(I mean the tooth fairy has her tooth to keep):) She is so excited again and I hope her teeth give the fairy a little break cause her wallet is looking a little empty.

Does the tooth fairy give $ for swallowed teeth?

This past Saturday Savannah and Kaden both had soccer games. Savannahs game was at 11am and Kadens was at 2p.m. We told the kids if they were good for the day then we would get them Ice Cream from the Ice Cream Truck. They both played their little hearts out and they were pretty good for us for the most part.

Well Savannahs two bottom teeth were loose. So when we were driving home from Kadens game after they ate their ice cream I looked back and noticed that 1 of savannahs teeth were gone. I asked her where her tooth was and she didn't even know it fell out. So needless to say she swallowed her tooth and as sad as I was that we couldn't put it under her pillow I am not about to wait for her to go to the bathroom to find it.:) I am not that desperate.LOL So she wrote a note to the toothfairy of course with our help. The letter said:
Dear Toothfairy,
I lost my tooth at my soccer game today. I think I swallowed it. Can I still have money for it? Love, Savannah
Well when she woke up in the morning she came in my room and of course I was still tryin to sleep so she noticed that I was still sleeping and left my room. About 15 minutes later I got up wondering where she went and I found her in bed again. I asked her if she was still tired and she said ya I am trying to go back to sleep so the toothfairy will come. I said well look under your pillow. She showed me that her envelope was still there thinking that her letter was still inside. I said open it and she happily opened it finding $5.00. She was so cute. Now all she is doing is wiggling the other one so she can get more money from the toothfairy. Man that toothfairy must be rich!

A Different America Today

I found this on a friends Blog and thought it was very necessary to post. Please don't stop reading you have to hear this!

President Bush did make a bad mistake in the war on terrorism. But the mistake was not his decision to go to war in Iraq. Bush's mistake came in his belief that this country is the same one his father fought for in WWII. It is not.

Back then, they had just come out of a vicious depression. The country was steeled by the hardship of that depression, but they still believed fervently in this country. They knew that the people had elected their leaders, so it was the people's duty to back those leaders.
Therefore, when the war broke out the people came together, rallied behind, and stuck with their leaders, whether they had voted for them or not or whether the war was going badly or not.
And war was just as distasteful and the anguish just as great then as it is today. Often there were more casualties in one day in WWII than we have had in the entire Iraq war. But that did not matter. The people stuck with the President because it was their patriotic duty. Americans put aside their differences in WWII and worked together to win that war.
Everyone from every strata of society, from young to old pitched in. Small children pulled little wagons around to gather scrap metal for the war effort.
Grade school students saved their pennies to buy stamps for war bonds to help the effort. Men who were too old or medically 4F lied about their age or condition, trying their best to join the military. Women doubled their work to keep things going at home. Harsh rationing of everything from gasoline to soap to butter was imposed, yet there was very little complaining.
You never heard prominent people on the radio belittling the President. Interestingly enough in those days there were no fat cat actors and entertainers who ran off to visit and fawn over dictators of hostile countries and complain to them about our President. Instead, they made upbeat films and entertained our troops to help the troops' morale.
And a bunch even enlisted.
And imagine this: Teachers in schools actually started the day off with a Pledge of Allegiance, and with prayers for our country and our troops!
Back then, no newspaper would have dared point out certain weak spots in our cities where bombs could be set off to cause the maximum damage. No newspaper would have dared complain about what we were doing to catch spies. A newspaper would have been laughed out of existence if it had complained that German or Japanese soldiers were being 'tortured' by being forced to wear women's underwear, or subjected to interrogation by a woman, or being scared by a dog or did not have air conditioning. There were a lot of things different back then. We were not subjected to a constant bombardment of pornography, perversion and promiscuity in movies or on radio. We did not have legions of crack heads, dope pushers and armed gangs roaming our streets.
No, President Bush did not make a mistake in his handling of terrorism. He made the mistake of believing that we still had the courage and fortitude of our fathers. He believed that this was still the country that our fathers fought so dearly to preserve.
It is not the same country. It is now a cross between Sodom and Gomorra and the land of Oz. We did unite for a short while after 9/11, but our attitude changed when we found out that defending our country would require some sacrifices.
We are in great danger. The terrorists are fanatic Muslims. They believe that it is okay, even their duty, to kill anyone who will not convert to Islam. It has been estimated that about one third, or over three hundred million, Muslims are sympathetic to the terrorists' cause... Hitler and Tojo combined did not have nearly that many potential recruits. So... We either win it - or lose it - and you ain't gonna like losing.
America is not at war. The military is at war.
America is at the mall, or watching movies.

1st day of Kindergarten

I can't believe my oldest is in kindergarten. She is so excited to be going to school. She goes from about 8:20-2:40 and she is loving every bit of it. I have to admit I miss her but I am also loving having 3 at home instead of 4. And even with 3 it is hard enough. Have a fun time at school savannah banana.

Daddy came to send her off to her first day of school.

This is savannah with her teacher Miss Candice. It is hard to see because savannah is blocking the sun out of her eyes.

Catchin' up on the blog...

So life has slowed maybe just a small amount, atleast enough to where I am able to post and catch up on my blogging. We have been going and going ever since we got back from vacation. I am making time to do it. I have to or else it will never get done. We ( louis and I) went out to Oklahoma because louis had a job interview out there. While we were out we visited my dad in Arkansas who is only 1 1/2 hrs away. My brother and his wife live out there as well. So here are some pictures of louis and my Bro fly fishing at a lake in Arkansas. Although no fish were caught, he still had a blast. Maybe next time babe! There are some more posts under this one, so take a look...

Addison loves to try on other peoples clothes. She loves trying on savannahs shoes and dresses but this was so funny I had to get a picture. She had on 2 different pairs of tights. One pair on each leg and the sandals were hilarious. I guess she was getting ready for church :)

So this is addisons new little thing that she does during the day when I don't know where she is and she is being so quiet that I know she must be doing something she's not supposed to be doing. Yes! She takes out all her clean clothes at least twice a day and puts them in the dirty laundry basket. Just a little annoying... but then she looks at me and giggles with her cute smile. It's so hard to put that adorable face in time out.

This was another part of our vacation that I had to post. We went to the Salt Lake Temple Square and it was very special to be with my eternal family. We enjoyed the time together.
